Play 4 Diversity
A play and sports fun day was held at Cookstown Leisure Centre on Thursday 26th May as part of the Play 4 Diversity programme delivered on behalf of the South West Peace III Cluster in Cookstown, by the University of Ulster.
The fun day included a range of play and sporting activities for children and parents to come together. The main attraction was the Belfast Giants Ice Stada, which gave children the chance to ice skate on their unique portable Ice rink.
The fun day was the final element of the Play 4 Diversity Programme which aimed to develop parents understanding of child development and the importance of diversity in the community, this was part of the capital development through the South West Peace III programme throughout the areas of Gortalowry Park, Ratheen, Greenvale, Sullenboy, Killymoon, Stewart Avenue, Castle Villas, Cooke Crescent, Milburn and Monrush
Anne Paul - European Duathlon Champion Anne Paul, the Ulster Sports Academy’s Sport and Recreation Manager on the Coleraine Campus, won the European Duathlon Championships held in Limerick on the 16th April. Competing in the 45-49 age category Anne was crowned European Champion completing the course which consisted of a 10k run, 40k cycle and a further 5k run to finish in a superb time of 2.07.31.
Jordanstown’s Sports & Recreation Manager, Ian O’Neill finished 19th in his age group in a time of 2.10.48.
