POINTS SYSTEM FOR THE CPISRA BOCCIA WORLD CUP 2011
Overview
The Boccia World Cup is a prestigious competition that acknowledges elite performance as well as the development of Boccia through all 7 Events, these being Individuals BC1, BC2, BC3 and BC4, Pairs BC3, Pairs BC4 and Teams. The Boccia World Cup Trophy is awarded to the Country that manages this balance at the highest level.
The Country that wins the Boccia World Cup Trophy is determined by the results taken from every Event. The winner of the Boccia World Cup Trophy shall be the Country that has been most successful in the largest number of Events.
Calculating the Winner
Each of the 7 Events carries World Cup points. In the Individual Events the points received by the (maximum of) 2 best placed Sides from each Country will go towards winning the World Cup. The points received by each Team and Pair also go towards winning the World Cup.
Each Side receives points in descending order of their final placing in the Event. In an Event of 50 Sides, 1st place will receive 50 points, 2nd place will receive 49 points through to 50th place receiving 1 point).
- In the Individual Events points are multiplied by a factor of 1 (x1) i.e. in an Event of 50 Individuals 1st place receives 50 x 1 = 50 points.
- In the Pairs Events points are multiplied by a factor of 2 (x2) i.e. in an Event of 8 Pairs 1st place receives 8 x 2 = 16 points.
- In the Team Event points are multiplied by a factor of 3 (x3) i.e. in an Event with 14 Teams 3rd place receives 12 x 3 = 36 points.
The total number of points scored by each Country is then divided by the number of Individuals carried through to the World Cup Calculation table, thus giving an average score (in the example below this is 7).
Finally, this average score is multiplied by the number of Events in which the Country participated (in the example below this is 6).
In the example below, Country A scores a total of 139.68. Which ever country accumulates the most points using the above calculation, shall be the World Cup Winners.
