- Courses are aimed at anyone from 16+ years of age. There is no upper age limit

- Course places are also available to current University of Ulster students.

Courses
- All courses are designed and delivered by the University of Ulster’s, School of Sport Studies, based on the Jordanstown Campus.
- All courses involve contact hours with expert tutors and also an element of self directed learning.
- Weekend courses will normally run Saturday 10-5pm & Sunday 12-5pm.

Sport Psychology for Coaches:
Course Dates: 2010/11 dates TBA in September
Module Code PPD111
Through a combination of lectures and practicals, the course uses both sport and mainstream psychology to increase the understanding of human behaviour in a sport setting. Examining the contribution of the mental aspect in sport including motivation, anxiety and stress, attention and concentration, mental imagery and working with teams.Credit Points: 10 Cost: £52.50 Venue: University of Ulster, Jordanstown Campus
Developing Children's Basic Sport Skills:
Course Dates: 2010/11 dates TBA in September
Module Code PPD109
Focuses on the teaching and coaching of children’s fundamental movement patterns, core athletic skills and how these impact upon performance in a range of sporting activities. Students will learn the role of the coach/teacher in this development whilst learning how to help children progress.Credit Points: 10 Cost: £52.50 Venue: University of Ulster, Jordanstown Campus
Good Practice in Children’s Sport:
Course Dates: 2010/11 dates TBA in September
Module Code PPD114
Provides a fundamental understanding of good practice in the management and organisation of children’s sport. The Sport NI course ‘Safe Guarding Children and Young People in Sport’ will run as part of this module.Credit Points: 5 Cost: £26.25 Venue: University of Ulster, Jordanstown Campus

Sports Event Management:

The events industry has the potential to attract very large audiences and interest from across the community. Introduction to Strength and Conditioning for Coaches:

Introduction to Applied Performance Analysis

Effective coaching and service support requires an understanding of performance analysis which can help improve all levels of performance. This course will develop an understanding of the basic performance analysis and recording systems. It will also develop a capacity to recognise and measure key performance indicators and present data in an appropriate and assessable manner.Credit Points: 10 Cost: £52.50 Venue: University of Ulster, Jordanstown Campus
Event Management for Volunteers
Course Dates: Course 1 18th September 10am-6pm & 19th September 10am-3pm, 2010 Course 2 9th October 10am-6pm & 10th October 10am-3pm, 2010. *Please state on the enrolment form which course date you are applying for.
Module Code PPD025
This module introduces students to event management for volunteers. It will provide an awareness and fundamental understanding of the disciplines involved in event management, including the importance of good practice. Learning will be enhanced through a combination of lectures, practical sessions and self learning.The University of Ulster and Volunteer Now are working in conjunction to develop Northern Ireland’s Volunteers in preparation for London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the 2013 World Police and Fire Games, being hosted in Belfast.
Volunteer Now have reached an agreement with London 2012 that all Event Management for Volunteer graduates that apply through the central London 2012 volunteer application process will receive an interview to become a ‘Games Maker’ and therefore this course will help applicants take a step closer to being involved.

Modules are being added to all the time and can be specifically designed to suit any sport or Governing Bodies requirements.

Price
Each course costs £5.25 per credit point. i.e. £52.50 for a 10 credit point course and £26.25 for a 5 credit point course.
This rate has been discounted, for a limited time, from the usually £11.10 per credit point fee.

If you are a new user please follow the online instructions for First Time Users.
Once in your application you should select the option of application type “Professional Develop Programme” from the drop down menu, and choose the academic year of 2010-2011 please then fill out all relevant sections with your personal details.
Please select the programme selection of “CPPD UG MODULES (L&HS) PT JN”, for your programme choice of any of Sports Academy CPPD courses
Once you complete your application, your details will come across to the administration unit of Lifelong Learning.
Free limited Student Places Available -The Ulster Sports Academy are currently offering free places to University of Ulster students.
To be eligible for a free place on a course/s students must demonstrate how their attendance will allow them to contribute or enhance their contribution to the work of the Ulster Sports Academy whether in a coaching, development or administrative capacity for a university club or through one of our existing programme's (for example Sports Outreach, Ulster Elks Sports Camps etc).
